- role in control of immune response & during pregnancy (putative)
Cofactor: binds 1 Zn+2 per subunit (putative)
Structure
- contains 1 disintegrin domain
- contains 1 peptidase M12B domain
Compartment
Expression
- expressed highly in the small intestine & appendix, moderately in lymph node, mucosal lining of the colon, thymus, spleen & very weakly in the bone marrow
- predominantly expressed in dendritic cells of the germinal center
- weakly expressed in monocyte & highly expressed in macrophage
- absent in immature endritic cells
- induced during endritic cell maturation & up-regulated in response to T-cell signals
- in macrophage, up-regulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)
- up-regulated by 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 during differentiation of primary monocyte into macrophage
