Introduction
Elderly patients are prone to antibiotic side-effects.
Etiology
- penicillin-induced
- aminoglycosides & vancomycin
- dose-related neurotoxicity associated with:
- bleeding secondary to coagulopathy associated with:
- anti-Pseudomonal penicillins
- some cephalosporins
- prophylactic vitamin K may be useful in malnourished patients receiving parenteral nutrition
