Corrigan's pulse

Etiology

• chronic severe aortic regurgitation

Pathology

• wide pulse pressure with large systolic stroke volume & rapid fall in arterial pressure

Clinical manifestations

• a rapid forceful carotid upstroke with marked collapse
• right carotid artery visibly pulsatile with the patient sitting
  • systolic swelling & rapid diastolic collapse
• dyspnea

• echocardiography

Management

• aortic valve replacement
