Introduction
A group of heterogenous disorders characterized by the presence of abnormalities on chest X-ray & eosinophilia.
Etiology
- asthma
- pulmonary eosinophilia
- allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis
- eosinophilic pneumonia
- Churg-Strauss disease
- parasitic infections
- pharmaceutical agents
- neoplasms associated with eosinophilia:
- tropical eosinophilia
- hypereosinophilic syndrome
- bronchocentric granulomatosis
Epidemiology
- travel to developing country
Clinical manifestations
Laboratory
- stool for ova & parasites
Radiology
- patchy bilateral pulmonary infiltrates
Management
- long-term systemic glucocorticoids
- case of symptoms & radiology findings clearing with 5 days of prednisone[2]
