Pathology
- small bowel biopsy shows
- eosinophilic infiltration of the mucosa
- occasionally, absence of villi
Clinical manifestations
Laboratory
- complete blood count
- iron-deficiency
- decreased serum proteins: serum albumin decreased & serum globulins decreased
- stool studies
- fecal fat
- ova & parasites to rule out parasitic infection
Diagnostic procedures
Radiology
- small bowel studies show course folds & filling defects
Management
rapid response to oral steroids
