Etiology
- NSAIDs
- H pylori
- Strongyloides stercoralis
- Crohn's disease
- sprue: celiac disease
- chemotherapy
- radiation therapy
- alcohol, tobacco & other ingested poisons
- bile acid reflux
- duodenal trauma or surgery
Clinical manifestations
- flatulence
- indigestion.
- iron deficiency anemia
- nausea/vomiting
- upper abdomenal pain :
Management
- depends upon etiology
- antacids
- treatment of H pylori &/or Strongyloides stercoralis
- treatment of sprue
- treatment of Crohn's disease
