Introduction
Infection of the eye.
Etiology
- the terms ocular herpes, keratomycosis, trachoma, hordeolum refer specifically to infections of the eye or eyelid
- the terms conjunctivitis, keratitis, optic neuritis, scleritis & uveitis refer to inflammation for which infection is one etiology
- the term orbital cellulitis refers to infection of the orbit
- retinitis results from infections of the retina
