Introduction
The coexistence of Alzheimer's disease & vascular dementia.
Pathology
- dementia is more likely & likely to be more severe when vascular lesions coexist with the neurofibrillary tangles & amyloid plaques of Alzheimer's disease
Management
- cholinesterase inhibitors may be of modest clinical benefit
- memantine may be of modest clinical benefit
- cardiovascular risk control
