Introduction

A 1:1 complex of ethylenediamine & theophylline.

Tradenames: Somophyllin, Somophyllin-DF.

Contraindications

Dosage

  • Intravenous:
    • Load 6 mg/kg IV over 20-30 minutes.
    • Drip 1 g in 250 mL D5W (4 mg/mL) at 0.5-0.7 mg/kg/hr (70 kg: 0.7 mg/kg/hr = 11 mL/hr).
    • Pediatrics: 1 mg/kg/hr.
  • Oral: 200 mg PO TID/QID.

Tabs: 100 & 200 mg.

Liquid: 125 mg/5 mL.
