corneal pseudodendrite

Etiology

• corneal pseudodendrites are due to Herpes zoster ophthalmicus

Diagnostic procedures

• ophthalmoscopy
  • examination of the cornea under blue light after fluoroscein staining
    • yellow pseudodendrites have a branching appearance & appear stuck on without associated corneal ulceration

Differential diagnosis

• corneal dendrite
  • dendrites with corneal ulceration are seen with Herpes simplex ophthalmicus
