Clinical manifestations
- presence of symptoms >= 2 years without remission lasting > 2 months
- symptoms generally mild
- other symptoms of depression (at least 2 for diagnosis)
- difficulty concentrating or making decisions
- low energy, fatigue
- sleep disorder: insomnia or hypersomnia
- overeating
- low self eseeem
- increased risk of suicide
Differential diagnosis
- major depression
- episodic, periods of remission
- symptoms more severe
