Introduction
A term distinguished from microvascular disease of diabetes mellitus
Pathology
- refers to disease of small arteries (< 0.5 mm in diameter) accounting for 70% of coronary resistance in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease
Clinical manifestations
- patients may present with stable angina pectoris
Diagnostic procedures
- may present as false positive exercise ECG stress test[2]
- abnormal response to acetylcholine infusion (endothelium-dependent)
- abnormal response to adenosine infusion (endothelium-independent)[2]
