Adverse effects
- rarely severe or life-threatening
- result in seizures, acidosis, hepatic necrosis, heart block, tachycardia, hypotension, hypoglycemia or hypertension
- plant toxins include
- calcium oxalate
- plants with hypoglycemic potential: Panex ginseng & others (see[1])
- plants causing electrolyte disturbances & other pathology (digitalis glycosides)
- mushroom poisoning
