Introduction
Indications
- inhibition of intra-operative miosis
- treatment of post-operative inflammation following cataracts surgery
- treatment of cystoid macular edema
Dosage
- 1 drop every 30 minutes, beginning 2 hours before surgery (4 drops to each eye)
Ophthalmic: 0.03% (5 mL). (Ocufen)
Adverse effects
- common (> 10%)
- slowing of corneal healing, irritation, itching, burning
- less common (1-10%)
- other
- blurred vision
- toxic amblyopia
- systemic effects of ocular absorption may occur
