Function
- GTPase activating protein (GAP)
- specifically converts GTP-bound RAC1 & CDC42 in their inactive GDP-bound form.
- GAP activity is enhanced by the non-covalent binding of K-29 & K-48 polyubiquitin chains
Compartment
- cell membrane, peripheral membrane protein
- localization to membranes is increased by binding of polyubiquitin chains
- cytoplasm
Alternative initiation
Named isoforms=5
Expression
expressed in brain (at protein level)
Pathology
- enriched in tangle aggregates in cells of Alzheimer's disease brain
Notes
translation initiation occurs at a non-canonical CUG codon
