voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG)

Indications
- recurrent urinary tract infections, especially in children[3]
- VCUG can demonstrate:
- urinary obstruction
- post void residual
- vesicoureteral reflux
- neuropathic bladder changes
- posterior urethral valves in males (fluoroscopic exam)
Procedure
- radiograph with X-rays made during voiding with the bladder & urethra filled with contrast
