Do NOT mix with other insulins
can be stored in prefilled syringes for up to 42 days, (contrast with glargine)
Pharmacokinetics
- long-acting insulin analog like glargine (Lantus)
- peak 6-8 hours
- duration: dose-dependent; up to 24 hours
- binds albumin

- hypoglycemia & glycemic control no better with detemir than with neutral protamine Hagedorn insulin[2]
