Etiology

• postoperative complication of oophorectomy
  • risk factors include
    • pelvic adhesions
    • anatomic variations
    • intraoperative hemorrhage
    • poor surgical technique.

Pathology

• presence of residual ovarian tissue oophorectomy

Clinical manifestations

• pelvic pain
• pelvic mass
• absence of menopause after oophorectomy

Management

• surgery to remove the residual ovarian tissue
• hormonal contraception
