- use sperm from an HIV-negative donor (safest option)
- use highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) to suppress HIV in the man & have condomless intercourse only near ovulation while the woman is using daily preexposure prophylaxis
- collect man's sperm & "wash" to remove HIV-infected sperm; test sperm to confirm the absence of HIV, then use during intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization; use in conjunction with HAART & preexposure prophylaxis[1]
