Indications
- used to control polyuria, polydipsia & dehydration in patients with central diabetes insipidus
Contraindications

Adverse effects
- generally infrequent & mild
- rhinorrhea
- nasal congestion
- nasal irritation
- periorbital edema
- headache
- abdominal cramps
- slight increase in blood pressure
Drug interactions
- carbamazepine, chlorpropamide may potentiate effects of lypressin
Mechanism of action
- synthetic lysine vasopressin analog
- antidiuretic properties with no vasopressor or oxytocic effects
