Contraindications
- of no benefit for sepsis
- no benefits for elderly at risk for low cardiac output syndrome following cardiac bypass surgery[3] or cardiac surgery in general[4]
* may diminish likelihood of successful weaning from ventilator
Dosage
- 0.05 to 0.2 ug/kg/min
Mechanism of action
- inotrope & calcium-sensitizing drug
- appears to increase myofilament calcium sensitivity by binding to cardiac troponin C (Ca+2-dependent)[2]
