Epidemiology
- medial meniscus tear (may be more common in elderly)
Pathology
- joint effusions if present are generally small
Clinical manifestations
- knee pain, locking of knee, grinding
- patients generally able to immediately bear weight
- positive Thessaly test & medial lateral grind test
Management
- consevative management
- RICED
- physical therapy: strengthening of quadriceps & hamstrings
- knee surgery for > 4 weeks of symptoms
