transcriptional regulator PINT87aa (LINC-PINT)

Function
- enhances binding of the PAF1 complex to target gene promoters
- plays a role in negative regulation of transcription
- may function as an anchor to keep the PAF1 complex on target gene promoters, sequentially pausing RNA polymerase II-induced mRNA elongation
- inhibits FOXM1-mediated transcription of PHB2
- interacts with PAF1 complex member PAF1
- interacts with transcription factor FOXM1
Compartment
Expression
- expressed in brain, liver, kidney & stomach with lower levels in breast, intestine, thyroid & pancreas
Notes
- encoded by the circular form of the long non-coding RNA LINC-PINT
- suppresses glioblastoma cell proliferation & shows decreased expression in glioblastomas compared to normal non-tumor brain tissue
- induces growth inhibition & cellular sensescence & decreases mitophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells with higher levels of expression in non-tumor tissue than in adjacent HCC tissue
