Clinical manifestations
- subjective cognitive decline
- internal inconsistencies within particular cognitive domains
- ability to perform well at certain times but less so when a task demands a high degree of attention
- subjective complaints that contrast with competent performance in cognitively demanding activities
- fluent & articulate conversational skills
- collateral reports of good cognitive capacity
Complications
- unlikely to progress to dementia
Differential diagnosis
- frequently misdiagnosed as early dementia or mild cognitive impairment
