Toxoplasma gondii IgG in serum (VIDAS TOXO IgG Avidity assay, VIDAS TOXO IgG II)
Jump to navigation

Indications
- evaluation of Toxoplasmosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii
Principle
- VIDAS TOXO IgG Avidity assay tests IgG aviditiy for Toxoplasma gondii antigen(s)
- more recent infection produces IgG with less avidity than long-standing IgG
Clinical significance
- positive association between Toxoplasma gondii IgG ELISA serointensity & frailty*[5]
* somewhat curious given the finding that wolves infected with Toxoplasma gondii are 46 times more likely to become pack leaders & 11 times more likely to start a new pack than uninfected animals (see Toxoplasma gondii)
