Introduction

Includes:

• YO-specific PCCA recognizing a 52 kD protein identified by western blot

Etiology

• paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration
• neoplasms associated with YO-specific PCCA include:
  • breast cancer
  • ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, endometrial cancer
  • less commonly small cell lung carcinoma, Hodgkin's disease

Clinical significance

• YO-specific PCCA present in 50% of patients with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration
• neoplasms associated with YO-specific PCCA include:
  • breast cancer
  • ovarian cancer
• clinical significance of PCCA not associated with YO-specific PCCA is unknown
