Etiology

• livedoid vasculitis
• venous insufficiency
• vascular disease associated with diabetes mellitus
• injury to the skin of an ageing lower leg
  • cryotherapy
  • curettage
  • cautery

Clinical manifestations

• polyangular or star-shaped, depressed atrophic plaques, ivory-white in color (atrophy blanche)
• prominent red dots within the scar due to enlarged capillaries
• surrounding pigmentation
