- deposition of beta-amyloid in the brain, small & medium size cerebral arteries & the leptomeninges
- cerebral amyloid may precede the onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD) by 20-30 years[1]
Genetics
- old age & apolipoprotein E4 genotype were are associated with cerebral amyloid in adults with & without dementia[1]
Radiology
- neuroimaging negative for cerebral amyloid rules out AD
