Introduction

urine does not have a stron odoor if healthy & well hydrated

Etiology

• bladder fistula
• urinary tract infection
• dehydration (concentrated urine can smell like ammonia)
• poorly controlled diabetes mellitus (sweet smelling urine)
• liver failure
• ketonuria

Laboratory

• urinalysis
• urine culture if indicated
• other testing as indicated
