Etiology
Pathology
- continuously increased bile flow into the upper GI tract
- may contribute to gastritis, GERD & esophagitis
- may cause diarrhea & colicky lower abdominal pain
- sphincter of Oddi dysfunction
- post-surgical adhesions.
- biliary microlithiasis
Clinical manifestations
Diagnostic procedures
- abdominal ultrasound
- ERCP may be diagnostic & therapeutic
Management
- treatment of diarrhea
- fiber
- cholestyramine
- antispasmodics for colic
- proton pump inhibitor for gastritis, GERD & esophagitis
