Pathology
- incomplete posterior vitreous detachment
- persistently adherent vitreous exerting tractional pull on the macula
- morphologic alterations
- visual impairment
Clinical manifestations
- Onset & progression generally gradual
- blurred vision
- metamorphopsia
- micropsia
- scotoma
- difficulty reading
Diagnostic procedures
- optical coherence tomography Manaqement:
- vitreolysis with ocriplasmin
- eye surgery
- surgical release of vitreous attachment & resolution of both anteroposterior & tangential traction by means of pars plana vitrectomy combined with epiretinal membrane peeling
