Diclofenac Ophthalmic

Indications

• treatment of post-operative inflammation after cataracts surgery
• cystoid macular edema
• photophobia due to ocular inflammation

Dosage

• 1 drop QID beginning 24 hours after surgery & continuing for 2 weeks

Solution: ophthalmic 0.1% (5 mL)

Adverse effects

• ocular irritation, transient (> 10%)
• keratitis (1-10%)
• elevated intraocular pressure (1-10%)
• uncommon (< 1%)
  • blurred vision, change in vision, anterior chamber reaction, ocular allergy, nausea/vomiting, anaphylaxis, increased sweating
• patients with hdrogel soft contact lenses have experienced ocular irritation

• drug adverse effects of NSAIDs
