Introduction
Combination inhaler for asthma.
Generic Advair Diskus FDA-approved Jan 2019[8]
Indications
Contraindications
- symptoms of acute asthma (use albuterol)
Dosage
2 puffs BID
Dry powder inhaler:
- fluticasone: 100, 250 & 500 ug/actuation
- salmeterol: 50 ug/acuation
Storage
good for one month after opening
Adverse effects
- decrease frequency of asthma exacerbations, but may increase the severity of asthma attacks when they occur[4]
- noninferior to fluticasone monotherapy in the risk for serious asthma-related events[7]
