Introduction
effect mediated via donor T cells & natural killer cells effective in eliminating residual host acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells after allogeneic stem-cell transplantation
Pathology
- relapses of leukemia may occur when residual host leukemia cells lose human leukocyte antigen (HLA) surface antigens recognized by donor T cells & natural killer cells & express only the haplotype inherited from one parent (uniparental disomy), the matched donor haplotype, thus eliminating donor effector-cell immunoreactivity[1]
