Introduction

Age, Blood pressure, Clinical features, Duration, Diabetes [ABCD2] score for stroke risk after TIA

Indications

Clinical significance

Procedure

Age:

  • O if < 60 years
  • 1 if >= 60 years

Blood Pressure:

Clinical Features:

Duration:

  • 0 if < 10 minutes
  • 1 if 10-59 minutes
  • 2 if > 59 minutes

Diabetes mellitus:

Interpretation

  • maximum score is 7
  • score > 2 is associated with significantly increased risk of stroke within 90 days of TIA[4]
  • no ABCD2 score cutoff reliably predicts TIA patients at risk for stroke
