Indications

• peripheral arterial disease: assessment of severity

Laboratory

• serial specimen acquisition for muscle metabolites
  • serum lactate

Procedure

• noninvasive physiologic studies of lower extremity arteries, at rest & following treadmill stress testing
• bidirectional Doppler waveform or volume plethysmography recording
• ankle/brachial indices
• time of onset of claudication or other symptoms
• maximal walking time
• time to recovery
