Etiology
- peripheral corneal ulcer
- inflammatory eye conditions
- cicatrizing conjunctivitis
- chemical burns (eye)
- irritation from contact lenses
Clinical manifestations
- distinguishing features from true pterygium
- adhesion of the conjunctiva to the peripheral cornea
- may occur on any quadrant of the cornea.
- lack of firm adhesion throughout underlying structures
Management
- surgical excision
