Introduction

Muscle of dorsum of the foot.

Origin

dorsal surface of the calcaneus

Insertion

• by 4 tendons fusing with those of the extensor digitorum longus & by fibers independently attached to the base of the proximal phalanx of the 1st (great) toe

Action

• extends lateral 4 toes, 2-5

Innervation

deep fibular nerve
