Introduction

One of the long bones of the digits.

• there are 14 phalanges in each hand & each foot
  • 2 in each thumb or great toe & 3 in each of the remaining fingers & toes
• the phalanges are designated as proximal, middle & distal in relationship to the metacarpal bones or metatarsal bones
