• sacrum
• sacroiliac ligament
• mammillary processes of the lumbar vertebrae
• transverse processes of the thoracic vertebrae
• articular processes of the last 4 cervical vertebrae

Insertion

spinous processes of C2-C7

Action

rotates vertebral column

Innervation

dorsal rami of spinal nerves
