Introduction
The region or gyrus on the medial side of the parietal lobe of each cerebral hemisphere between the cuneus & the posterior paracentral gyrus. It is bordered posteriorly by the parieto-occipital sulcus, inferiorly by the subparietal sulcus & anteriorly by the marginal sulcus.
Function
- the precuneus is one of the polymodal cerebral cortices involved in integration of sensory input
Pathology
- persistent vegetative state may involve disconnection of the precuneus from sensory input[2]
