Structure
- a very deep, almost vertically oriented fissure on the medial surface of the cerebral cortex, marking the border of the parietal & occipital lobes
- the lower part curves forward & joins with the anterior edge of the calcarine fissure
- the depth of the combined fissure (parieto-occipital + calcarine) results in the occipital horns of the lateral ventricles
