Introduction

Tradename: Regitine.

pheochromocytoma:
- diagnosis: 5 mg IV; 1 mg if child
- 5 mg increments IV; 1 mg if child
- 5-10 mg IV every 1-2 hours PRN
extravasation:
- 5-10 mg in 10 mL normal saline in & around the site of extravasation
- best if given immediately, but may be effective if given within 12 hours

Injection: 5 mg/mL (1 mL), OraVerse may be different

elimination via plasma

competitively blocks alpha adrenergic receptors
decreases peripheral resistance
induces peripheral vasodilation
stimulates beta adrenergic receptors
- positive inotropic effects
- positive chronotropic effects
- increases cardiac output
dilates bronchial smooth muscle
