Introduction

80-100 residue domain found in the N-terminus of diverse vertebrate & vertebrate-specific viral proteins involved in apoptosis, cancer, inflammation, & immune response. It may have an adaptor function, coupling apoptosis & immune disorders.

The DAPIN domain is mostly alpha-helical. It may belong to the DEATH-domain-fold superfamily. It is a protein-protein interaction domain capable of binding to other DAPIN domains.
