Function

• RNA-binding protein that binds to several small cytoplasmic RNA molecules known as Y RNAs
• may stabilize these Y RNAs from degradation
• in the free state, Ro binds to a variety of misfolded RNAs including misfolded 5S rRNAs, & is thought to act as some sort of quality control mechanism
• Y RNA appears to function as a repressor of Ro
• phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
• found in a complex with PUF60 & Y5 RNA
• interacts with RIP11
