Function

• can either repress or activate transcription
• essential for basal & regulated expression of nearly all RNA polymerase 2-dependent genes
• may act as a bridge, conveying regulatory information from enhancers & other control elements to the promoter

Structure

• consists of:
  • NUT2, MED25, IXL/MED29, LCMR1/MED19, MED28, CRSP7/MED26, CDC2L6 & THRAP2/MED13L
