- constitutively activated form CDK5/p23-25 may play a major role in hyperphosphorylation of tau that appears to underly formation of paired helical filaments & neurofibrillary tangles of Alzheimer's disease
- calpain affects cleavage of p34-35 to p23-25 with constitutive activation of CDK5 activity
