Function
- phosphorylated on Tyr in response to rhodocytin binding
Structure
- glycosylated
- contains 1 C-type lectin domain
Compartment
membrane
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- expressed preferentially in liver
- expressed in immune cells of myeloid origin & on surface of platelets
Pathology
- receptor for platelet-aggregating snake venom protein rhodocytin
- rhodocytin binding leads to Tyr phosphorylation & this promotes binding of spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) & initiation of downstream Tyr phosphorylation events & activation of PLC-gamma-2
- acts as an attachment factor for HIV-1, thus facilitates its capture by platelets
