Mammalian equivalent of the amphibian tetradecapeptide bombesin.
Function
- GRP stimulates gastrin release & release of other gastrointestinal hormones
- operates as a negative feedback, regulating fear
- establishes a causal relationship between GRP-receptor gene expression, long-term potentiation, & amygdala- dependent memory for fear (putative)
