Expression

• expressed in brain, heart, kidney, liver, placenta, skeletal muscle & small intestine
• expressed at low levels in quiescent cells
• expression rises upon entry into S-phase
• induced by testosterone

Pathology

• first identified in search for genes differentially overexpressed in prostate cancer:
  • 71% of prostate carcinomas,
  • 80% of prostate intraepithelial neoplasia

Notes

• despite sequence similarity to MED25, PTOV1 has not been identified as a component of the mediator complex
